Do You Submit StudentTracker for Colleges & Universities Request Files? If So, Don’t Miss This Helpful Guide
Across the country, academic institutions use the Clearinghouse’s StudentTracker® for Colleges & Universities to track students’ academic advancements, allowing participating institutions to provide better service to their students.
Two StudentTracker users, Eugenio Hernandez, research analyst, Institutional Research at Pensacola State College, and Michael A. Johnston, director of Institutional Research at Pensacola State College, recently published a step-by-step guide, “It’s Element-ary: Perfecting StudentTracker Data Elements,” for submitting StudentTracker request files to the Clearinghouse.
The how-to guide includes technical tips on using SAS (statistical analysis software) and Excel to efficiently and consistently create files that pass StudentTracker validations so reports are generated on initial submission. The guide also provides a seamless process for extracting desired student-level data from an institution’s student information system into the request file. This data is returned in the StudentTracker reports enabling easier, on-demand student-level analysis.
Using this process to create a StudentTracker request file decreases effort for the institution staff, captures additional student information within the file, helps the file pass validations, and ensures file processing and report generation.
